In July and August, 2010, the Mount Desert Nursing Association sponsored a series of lectures on alternative health practices that are "synergistic" or complementary to traditional medical practices. These lectures were deemed very sucessful by both the attendees and the MDNA Board of Directors. A similar series of health-related speakers, has been requested, and is planned, for summer 2011.

The Mount Desert Nursing Association has a Loan Closet of durable medical equipment, such as walkers, canes, bath chairs, commodes and other such items, available to all Mount desert Island residents for short-term use. There is no cost for borrowing items. However, donations are appreciated. MDNA also accepts donations for its Loan Closet of durable medical equipment which are no longer needed by the donor or their family member.

The Mount Desert Nursing Association will be offering on-going free cane assessments to the public. Any persons interested in having their canes checked for adequate tread on tips, installation of new tips if needed, installation of ice prongs for walking on winter snow and ice, and assessment of proper cane fit and use, may come to the Mount Desert Nursing Association offices at 12 Summit Road in Northeast Harbor from 1:30 to 3:30 PM. Persons using walkers or other assistive walking devices may also bring tho for purchase at cost.
 
A Spring Cane Clinic will be offered as well. Ice prongs will be removed free of charge. Check back for date and time information.

The Mount Desert Nursing Association has two large offices on the second floor of its building at 12 Summit Road available for rent and immediate occupancy. The building is a lovely Cape. The space consists of one room suitable for an office, and a larger size room for a second office, or meeting room. There is a full bathroom on that floor. Heat is included in the rent. The rooms are available individually or in any combination, with shared bathroom. Individually, rental cost is $200-small room--144 sq. ft.; $300-medium room--240 sq. ft.; or $500 for the two rooms, with a total square footage of 384 square feet. The rooms have been newly painted, and the floors refinished. There is signage space available outside on the Mount Desert Nursing Association's sign..
